Dundee and the surrounding area looks all set for one last blast of sunshine today.

If you’ve packed away your summer outfits you might be best to dig one out again for the final time this year.

Forecasts suggest temperatures could reach 23C in the area and will likely be the hottest day of September.

Once the morning haar clears, the day will gradually get warmer with the best of the weather coming between 1pm and 4pm.

However, sun seekers should make the most of the brief Indian summer with downpours expected later in the evening.

Meanwhile, the thermometer could peak at 32C down south, leading to a Public Health England to issue a ‘Level 2 heat-health alert’.

And the high temperatures predicted means that Britain could be as warm as Bangkok in Thailand, and hotter than forecasts for Madrid and Los Angeles.
