Two people were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in a ground floor flat.
The fire service was alerted to the incident on the town’s Prosen Road in Kirriemuir at 1.44am and dispatched two appliances to the scene.
The blaze broke out in the bedroom of the flat and residents living in the block had to be evacuated as a safety precaution.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “There was a fire in a ground floor flat in the early hours of this morning.
“It was on Prosen Road in Kirriemuir and two people were taken to Ninewells Hospital.
“The fire was in the bedroom of the property.
“Two appliances from Kirriemuir were dispatched. When they arrived the two people from the flat were already outside, no one was trapped.
“Residents in the building were also evacuated by the fire crews and police.
“The firefighters used two hose reels and four breathing apparatus.
“The stop message came in at 3.44am and at 4.13am they left the scene.”
