Woman cut free from wreckage after head-on crash in Angus

A woman has had to be cut free from a vehicle following a serious crash in Angus.

It is believed the two vehicles collided head-on on the A932, east of Forfar at about 12.40pm.

The woman was trapped in the wreckage of the smash and had to be removed by firefighters. She has since been airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Another person has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

The condition of the two people is not yet known.

The road has since been closed in both directions and motorists are being diverted from the scene.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A932 near to Balgavies Loch at 12.38pm.

“A female had to be removed from one of the cars with hydraulic cutting equipment.

“Firefighters removed the door of the vehicle she was in.

“She has since been taken to Ninewells Hospital by air ambulance.

“One other person was released from the crash site before firefighters arrived.”

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We were called to the A932 by police officers on the scene.

“Paramedics in an ambulance and the air ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

“Both have since left and are on their way to Ninewells Hospital.”
