The Met Office has today issued a weather warning with Dundee and Tayside possibly seeing flurries of snow.
A yellow ‘be aware’ alert has been put in place from Tuesday afternoon through to Wednesday morning.
The entire country is expected to shiver through a chilly week after air moving in from the Arctic sent temperatures dwindling down to single digits over the weekend.
On Tuesday, temperatures are likely to peak around 5C while a minimum of 0C is expected in the morning – that could feel as low as -4C.
The level of snow could be minimal, unlike the amount seen in the Cairngorms over the weekend.
Snow gates on the A93 between Braemar and the Spittal of Glenshee, were closed for long periods yesterday due to heavy snow.
Motorists are now being urged to show caution on the roads.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Please be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions in some areas.
“A band of rain spreading slowly in will turn to snow as it encounters cold air.
“Whilst this will be mainly on high ground, and heavier bursts could easily bring snow down to low levels.
“Overnight into Wednesday morning, there are concerns that heavier bursts could bring snow more widely down to low levels.”
