A truck has been stolen from a Tayside activity centre, before being used in another crime on the same night.

Tank Driving Scotland, based in Auchterhouse, had its storage units broken into last night.

Approximately £20,000 of equipment was stolen, including a heavily modified Mitsubishi L200 pick up truck.

Owners Adele and Rod Sim are concerned about its impact on their business, having also lost a number of paintball guns, two Segways and tools in the raid.

They believe they have been targeted by professional thieves.

Speaking from her home in Broughty Ferry, Adele said: “It’s been a week from hell for us for other reasons but this is really the icing on the cake.”

“I think we’ve been targeted, how else would they know what we had in that garage, and the pick up truck was important to be able to do things.

“It’s our work and our business, it’s definitely personal to us.”

“Police said the vehicle was caught on CCTV at the scene of another crime, but they wouldn’t tell us any more.”

Rod said that among the items stolen was the truck was worth about £5,000 and two Segways, worth £6,000 each.

“It’s funny in some ways”, he said. “The Segways are useless to anyone else because we have the battery packs.

“And the truck is camouflage green, not easy to hide.

“But it would probably cost at least £20,000 to replace as well as the damage to the forced garage door.”

The couple said that officers told them that the raided items were used to commit another crime.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland is making inquiries after a green Mitsubishi pick-up was was stolen following a break-in at Burnhead Farm, Auchterhouse, Angus overnight.

“It would bear the registration mark X787 XSF. Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101.”

At the outdoor centre, visitors can drive a range of tanks, go paintballing or  feel that they have been targeted by professional thieves.
